01
HOT NEWS INTERACTIVE

Hot News Interactive (HNI) was a new initiative planned to develop Townsvillites into critical readers of tomorrow. This is achieved by nurturing student-led discussions in class based on contemporary affairs.

During HNI, students utilise the SSC framework – Stance, Source, Conclude – in their discussions to ensure that their arguments are factual and on-point. Feeding on the information provided, together with their own research and the friendly in-class discussions, students grow with every session in both insight and confidence!
02
SCRABBLE
Scrabble is introduced to students as part of the English curriculum when they are in Primary 3. To develop rich vocabulary knowledge in students, we focus on how students can learn through experience and enjoyment of the language. In addition, during the Scrabble lessons, we focus on 3 components - integration, repetition and the meaningful usage of words - to build students' vocabulary.

03
SPEECH AND DRAMA
Speech and Drama is a programme targeted at the Primary 1 and 2 students. It allows students to showcase their linguistic skills to an audience. This ties in with the primary school EL syllabus in Speaking and Representing, where speaking with accurate pronunciation and appropriate intonation is concerned.

During the programme, drama techniques like role playing and verbalising are taught. Students learn to work with their classmates to put up a short skit for their teachers and parents. It has helped students to build confidence to speak in front of an audience and to improve on their collaboration and communication skills.

FUN WITH ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Fun with English Language is a termly programme where students engage in different English Language related activities held during the week. Through the array of activities executed both in and out of the classroom, students cultivate the love for the language as they explore it.

Also, through the fun language games both in class and during the assembly programme, our students get to improve on their language skills and further build their love for English.
